2 Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His mouth; (words)
for Your love is better than wine.
3 Your oils have a pleasing fragrance.
Your name is oil poured out,
therefore the virgins love you.
4 Take me away with you. Let’s hurry.
The king has brought me into his chambers.
We will be glad and rejoice in you.
We will praise your love more than wine!
They are right to love you.
5 I am dark, but lovely,
you daughters of Jerusalem...
From "The Prayer Book of Jonathon CaDena" Chapter 1:7-11
Here is the greatest love story ever written and lived, even today! The King is Jesus, the young Shulammite virgin is "you" when truly in love with Jesus, the Kings chamber is the heart of God "the inner most Holy of Holies" AKA; beyond the veil; (the curtains of Solomon's Temple) which concealed the Ark of the Covenant (the very heart of God - His place of "Holy of Holies" And His "Mercy Seat".
Now accessible through a personal relationship with Jesus, It is the New Testament that completes the Old Testament.
The maidens are others, like me (Jonathon) and other Christ followers in love with Him, His character of grace and His unfailing goodness.
The "Daughters of Jerusalem" are those outside on the "outer court" of the Holy of Holies (Outer Court; as they offer sacrifices for sin and guilt, attempting to work their way into His heart but failing to reach Him); they are saved but are those who are seeking to find a way into His heart but have not yet found true love with Him, yet. As Christ followers, they feel they are looking from the outside in. Not fully immersed in their own identity in Him!
"I am dark" is all of us, stained with sin but accepted, redeemed and loved passionately by the presence of the King of Kings in His chamber. Yet, we become white as snow in Christ as He redeemed me by His shed blood.
The "oils of fragrance" are His "Oil of Gladness, Joy, healing, restoration and our own fragrance of loving Him back."
'Draw me after You and Let's run together." "'" Jesus said, I must go to the Father now but I will return to you, the Holy Spirit, your helper and comforter.
